FAQs
Why did you start leegaa?
We think sport is good.
It’s how we learned to play together nicely as kids. We created stories of triumph and tragedy with just a patch of grass and a ball. Sport is passion and skill and respect and beauty and friendship.
We also know that people’s lives are complex and busy. You’ve got a lot going on. So we wanted to create a way to quickly share the good of sport with family and friends.
Good sport, made fast and fun.
And free, because it’s supported by some advertising. But we don’t accept ads for gambling, alcohol, tobacco, adult services, or politics.
What’s with the Hearts ranking?
We all do it implicitly now - we have a favourite team, and we have a team we love to hate. We probably even know our ‘second team’. The teams in the middle - maybe a bit meh or dunno, really.
By making these preferences explicit - and getting you to lock them in right at the start - leegaa creates interesting new ways for fans, friends and family to follow a competition their way. The banter is about preference as well as prediction. It gives focus to which matches really matter to you this week. And it gives insight into what’s driving your predictions: are you a passionate hearts-led lover, or a cool heads-led machine?
The maths is jaw-dropping: there are 39,916,800 ways to rank an 11-team competition, and 479,001,600 ways to rank a 12-team competition.
Your heart-ranking is your sports fingerprint.
How do you score Hearts points?
Not all matches are equal. A match involving your #1 vs #12 has way more emotional impact than #6 vs #7. It’s just true.
For each match, the score is calculated: [loser heart rank] - [winner heart rank] = score.
So if your #1 team wins against your #12 team: [12] - [1] = 11. Big happy.
But if the result goes the other way: [1] - [12] = -11. Big sad.
A draw gets 0 points. It could have been better, but also it could have been worse.
We’ve all been there. Our team has a great season. Our team has a poor season.
Just remember: “‘tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all”.
And there is always next season.
There is always next season.
How do you score Heads points?
Correctly predicting the winning team = 3 points.
Correctly predicting a draw = 1 point.
Incorrect prediction = 0 points.
No prediction = 0 points. We’re not here to pressure you with penalties. We know life gets in the way sometimes. So you’re not going to go backwards, you just won’t go forwards this week. Hopefully you’ll have time to do your predictions next week. And beat your know-it-all cousin.
What’s with the Cards?
Whenever you complete your Hearts ranking for a new competition, or complete a week’s predictions, we’ll automatically create a Card for you. This becomes the record of your season. And you can share a card with your family and friends by email or social media to let them know where your heart and head are at.
All your Cards are located in the Cards tab, of course.
How does Friends work?
We want to make it easy to connect with friends and family so you can follow a competition together.
From the Friends tab you can:
- send an invite with a unique alphanumeric or QR code, or
- accept an invite by entering the code somebody else has sent you.
When an invite has been sent and accepted, you will be able to see each other’s hearts and heads and scores. And then you can banter in all your usual places: in real life, calling, email, texting, social media.
Your Friends are only the people that you have invited or accepted. Becoming Friends with a person does not mean you are Friends with all of their Friends. If you know what we mean.
Three important things:
- only accept an invite if you want to, and
- you will be Friends for any competition that you have both joined, and
- you can remove a Friend at any time. You’re in charge.
Can I delete my account?
Of course.
Go to My leegaa → Account → Delete account → Type your username → click Delete Account.
But please don’t. We’ll miss you.
